Industrial and Territorial Ecology (ITE)

If we consider all industrial activities as an ecosystem it appears to be extremely "immature" compared to natural ecosystems. The different species in a natural ecosystem have developed numerous interactions, in which each species has multiple functions contributing to the high productivity and resilience of the ecosystem.

Contrarily, the companies of an industrial ecosystem are usually separate and independent from one another, responsible for global inefficiency  and fragility of the industrial ecosystem.

In this context, Industrial and Territorial Ecology consists in promoting pooling and synergy opportunities, through dialogues between industries in a park, and then deploying them. In basically, it could be sharing a truck washing station, negotiating a joint housework contract, sharing an equipment ownership... It also applies to waste repurposing, for example paper and cardboard.

Gingko 21 supports "Deux Rives" district, inside Paris city, as well as four Corsica ativity areas in developing Industrial and Territorial Ecology.

In early March 2017, we also trained environmental consultants from CCI of Paris-Ile de France region on this topic.
